Start from the room and the job. A classroom or office that plans daily usually starts with a magnetic whiteboard. A cafe or traditional room may prefer a magnetic blackboard. A family that plans on the fridge may only need a small fridge board.
Include the category, what the items will be used for, the quantity you need, and the delivery destination. Confirm minimum order quantity and lead time with the supplier when you request a quote, and send your required size, material and finish with your inquiry.
The storefront lists all three main categories together, so a single inquiry can cover more than one category. Describe each category separately and request a separate quotation for each.
Compare by the job: what the magnet must hold, the surface it will sit on, and how often the display will change. A magnet for a single photo and a magnet for several laminated sheets are different jobs, and describing the job leads to the right style.
A board works best when the room is planned around it, not the other way round. Light, seating, traffic and storage all affect how much use the board gets.
Start with light. A board facing a bright window can be hard to read, while a board lit evenly from the side stays legible all day. If the room has strong sunlight, plan the board position so readers are not looking into glare, and writers are not casting shadows across the surface.
Next, think about seating and standing. A board used by a seated group needs a lower centre than a board used by standing presenters. A board in a corridor will be read on the move, so its content must be large and simple. A board in a meeting room will be studied up close, so it can carry more detail.
Finally, plan storage for the board tools: markers, erasers, cloths and magnets. A small tray, shelf or cup beside the board keeps everything within reach. Boards whose tools are stored elsewhere are used less, however good the board itself may be. When the room, the light and the tools are all planned, the board becomes part of daily work instead of an occasional extra.
One last planning point is growth. A board bought for one team may soon serve two, and a board bought for one classroom may be borrowed by the next. Leave a little spare wall space beside the board for a second board later, and choose a mounting approach that can be repeated. Planning for growth costs nothing now and saves a awkward refit when the board proves its worth and demand grows.
